Trade Agreement Promotes Colombian Leather Exports

According to data released by Colombia’s industrial trade department, between May 2012 and May 2013, Colombia’s exports of footwear, leather and its products to the United States increased by 9.2%.

The increase in export volume was due to the bilateral trade agreement signed by the two countries in May 2012. The signing of the agreement allowed 32 footwear, leather and product companies to export goods to the United States.

Industrial Trade Minister Sergio Dez Granados said at the 28th International Fair for Footwear and Leather: “Bilateral trade agreements will create more channels for Colombian exporters to sell their products in the United States.”
