In a significant development for China's knitting industry, the "Zhengmin Thai Knitwear (Underwear) Fund" was officially launched on December 28 at the An Lifang Shandong Industrial Park, marking a vibrant milestone for the textile sector at the end of 2009. This initiative is expected to bring new momentum and opportunities in research and development as well as talent cultivation within the industry.
The fund was established through a generous donation of 10 million yuan from Mr. Zheng Mintai, Chairman of Embry Holdings Co., Ltd. This contribution stands as the largest single donation received by the Textile Light Technology Education Foundation to date, reflecting his deep commitment to supporting the growth of the textile industry.
Notable figures from the textile community attended the ceremony, including Xu Kunyuan, Vice President of the China Textile Industry Association and Chairman of the Textile Light Technology Education Foundation; Yang Jichao, Secretary General of the China Textile Industry Association; Yang Shibin, Deputy Secretary General and Director of the China Knitting Industry Association; Li Jincai, President of the China Textile Construction Planning Institute; Wei Kan, General Secretary of the Textile Science and Technology Education Foundation; and Zhao Chuanxiang, Director of the Shandong Textile Industry Office.
Mr. Zheng Mintai, along with other executives from Embry Holdings Limited, including Executive Director Yue Ming Zhu and CEO Cheng Bi Hao, traveled from Hong Kong specifically to attend the signing ceremony. During the event, Xu Kunyuan and Zheng Mintai signed the donation agreement, symbolizing a strong partnership between the private sector and the textile industry.
Xu Kunyuan praised Zheng Mintai's dedication to public welfare, emphasizing that the Textile Light Technology Education Foundation plays a crucial role in driving technological progress and personnel training, which are vital for China's vision of becoming a global textile power.
Over the past three decades, Embry Group has consistently invested in scientific research and talent development, evolving into one of the most influential companies in the knitwear industry. The establishment of the Zhengmin Thai Fund is seen as a key step in advancing the overall development of China’s knitting sector.
As the initiator and organizer of the fund, the China Knitting Industry Association highlighted that the resources will be directed toward areas such as design innovation, technological advancement, equipment development, process optimization, standardization, and market trends—both domestically and internationally. The focus is on enhancing the scientific and technological value of the industry.
Ultimately, the fund aims to elevate the research and development capabilities of China’s knitted underwear industry, drive the broader development of the sector, and create a platform for building a world-class Chinese underwear brand.
