In recent developments, China's knitting industry has gained new momentum in both research and development as well as talent cultivation. On December 28, the signing ceremony for the "Zhengmin Thai Knitwear (Underwear) Fund" took place at An Lifang Shandong Industrial Park, marking a vibrant conclusion to the year for China's textile sector. This initiative is expected to bring fresh energy and innovation to the industry.
The Zhengmin Thai China Knitwear (Underwear) Fund was established with a generous donation of 10 million yuan from Mr. Zheng Mintai, Chairman of Embry Holdings Co., Ltd. This contribution stands as the largest single donation received by the Textile Light Technology Education Foundation to date, underscoring the commitment to advancing education and technology within the textile field.
Several key figures from the textile industry attended the event, including Xu Kunyuan, Vice President of the China Textile Industry Association, and Chairman of the Textile Light Technology Education Foundation; Xu Jianyuan, Secretary General of the China Textile Industry Association; Yang Jichao, Deputy Secretary General of the China Textile Industry Association; Yang Shibin, President of the China Knitting Industry Association; Li Jincai, President of the China Textile Construction Planning Institute; Wei Kan, General Secretary of the Textile Science and Technology Education Foundation; and Zhao Chuanxiang, Director of the Shandong Textile Industry Office.
Mr. Zheng Mintai, along with Yue Ming Zhu, Executive Director of Embry Holdings Limited, and Cheng Bi Hao, Executive Director and CEO, traveled from Hong Kong specifically for the signing ceremony. At the event, Xu Kunyuan and Zheng Mintai officially signed the donation agreement, symbolizing a strong partnership between the private sector and the textile community.
Xu Kunyuan praised Zheng Mintai's dedication to public welfare, highlighting that the Textile Light Technology Education Foundation aims to drive China’s vision of becoming a global textile leader through technological advancement and human capital development.
Over the past three decades, Embry Group has consistently invested in research and training, evolving into one of the most influential companies in the underwear industry. The establishment of the Zhengmin Thai Fund is seen as a significant step forward in supporting the growth and innovation of China's knitting sector.
As the organizer and initiator of the fund, the China Knitting Industry Association emphasized that the fund will be allocated toward areas such as design, technological innovation, equipment development, process optimization, standardization, and market trends—both domestically and internationally. The focus remains on enhancing the scientific and technical aspects of the industry.
Ultimately, the goal of the fund is to elevate the research and development capabilities of China’s knitted underwear industry, foster overall industry growth, and create a platform for building a globally competitive Chinese underwear brand.
