China's home textile industry boasts a rich and ancient history, yet for a long time, there was no comprehensive book that truly reflected its cultural heritage and historical development. The launch of the "China Textile Culture Collection" marked a turning point, ending the era without a classical framework in the textile industry. It signified a shift from "Made in China" to "Innovation Created in China." On December 25, 2009, the premiere of the "China Textile Culture Collection" was held at the Beijing News Building, hosted by the China Textile Industry Association, the China Household Textile Industry Association, the China Textile Economic Research Center, and the China Textile Press.
Edited by the China Household Textile Industry Association and published by the China Textile Press, this book is the first in China to systematically explore the historical evolution and cultural significance of home textiles. It offers a modern perspective on the essence of home textiles throughout different periods in Chinese history. Moreover, it plays a crucial role in promoting the transformation of China's vast textile industry from traditional manufacturing to smart manufacturing, helping to elevate the global image of Chinese textile brands.
Du Chao, President of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, remarked, "Home textile culture is an essential component of national culture." He praised the "China Textile Culture Collection" for vividly showcasing the deep roots of Chinese textile traditions. Many of the collections featured in the book have been recognized as part of China's intangible cultural heritage. Not only does the book hold great value for the textile industry, but it also serves as an important academic resource for historical research.
Attendees at the event included Wu Shulin, Deputy Director of the Press and Publications Department, Yang Donghui, Vice President of the China Household Textile Industry Association, and Li Ling Shen, President of the China Textile Press. Their presence underscored the significance of this groundbreaking publication in both cultural and industrial contexts.
