According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in May 2016, the total retail sales of clothing, shoes, hats, and needle textiles increased by 5.9% year-on-year, a decrease of 6.6 percentage points from the same period of last year. According to the data from the China National Business Information Center, in May 2016, the retail sales of 100 key large-scale retail enterprises nationwide decreased by 6.1% year-on-year, which was 8.0 percentage points lower than that of the previous month and a slowdown of 9.2 percentage points from the same period of last year.

Clothing retail sales decreased by 7.2% year-on-year, and the growth rate decreased by 7.8 percentage points from the previous month, which was 13.3 percentage points lower than the same period of last year. The production and sales of gauze are stable. In the past month, the yarn production and sales rate of the textile enterprises surveyed decreased slightly, and the inventory increased slightly; the production and sales ratio of cloth increased and inventory decreased. As of June 8th, the sample production company's yarn production-sales ratio was 99.96%, a decrease of 4.8 percentage points from the previous quarter and a year-on-year decrease of 0.1 percentage points; inventory was 14.1 days, an increase of 0.1 days from the previous quarter and a decrease of 5.4 days from the same period last year. The sales rate of cloth was 100.45%, a 3.5% increase from the previous quarter and an increase of 10.2% year-on-year; inventory was 34.6 days, a decrease of 6.2 days from the previous quarter and a decrease of 20.8 days from the same period last year.

Textile enterprises are actively purchasing cotton. At present, raw materials inventory of textile enterprises is still relatively low. In order to maintain production, replenishment of inventory is needed. However, cotton resources in the spot market are lacking. Textile enterprises mostly use warehouse storage cotton to replenish stocks, and companies are actively bidding. The purchase intention survey showed that at the beginning of June 2016, 76.1% of companies were preparing to purchase raw materials, a month-on-month increase of 1 percentage point, and a year-on-year decrease of 1 percentage point; enterprises with a wait-and-see attitude accounted for 24%, a month-on-month decrease, and a year-on-year increase of 1 Percentage points; There is no enterprise that does not plan to purchase cotton, which is flat compared to the same period last year.
